Throughout my pregnancy, I wanted so much more than a scheduled painful birth that I had experienced with my first son. I tried to convince my husband to be ok with a home birth, but like a lot of people he feared the fact that a “doctor” wouldn’t be there. Over time you showed not just me, but my husband too, that you were so much more than a “doctor”; you are an amazing person who has the biggest heart for women and children. You helped us welcome our son into the world in a way that was pure and peaceful. It was THE MOST AMAZING thing and moment I have ever experienced. I got to catch my son. He looked up at ME; I was the first person he got to see and feel. I am hooked for life. I thank you for your continuing care for our family. I will admit that I wanted to quit and it was hard, but you were there with me, holding me, and telling me not just what you thought I needed to hear but what you truly believed. If I could send every pregnant woman to you, I would. And believe me, I try. Thank you Christy. We love you!!!
Throughout my entire pregnancy and labor your faith in my strength and ability was unwavering, even when I myself swore that I was done and couldn’t do it, and truth be told there’s no way I would have been able to without you. You were the strength, love, and support that made our dream of the most perfect home birth come true. Your incredible knowledge and passion is infectious, and you are truly amazing as a woman, mother, and midwife! I love you, and thank you again for giving Riley the gift of a gentle birth!
After a very restricted, controlled hospital birth experience with our 1st, I was terrified of giving birth to the point of feeling panic. The freedom, support, and encouragement I received from you during labor as well as being able to birth how, where, and the way I wanted changed everything for me! Everything was faster and much less painful, so I was able to feel present in every way to welcome our 2nd son. Thank you so very much for everything! I feel we not only found a midwife, but a friend as well.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciated your care throughout my pregnancy and especially past my due date. My labor and birth was beautiful instead of traumatizing, and I would not trade it for the world. Thanks again!
I could never thank you enough for everything you’ve done for myself and Grace. You were (and still are) amazing support and so generous with your time and knowledge. Thank you for making my pregnancy, labor, and delivery an incredible and unforgettable experience!
You are awesome! We want to thank you for all that you did for us. Watching you pamper Kristina and take care of all her needs really warmed my heart and made things a lot easier. Getting through that momentous occasion really was a team effort! Thank you for sharing this experience with us; by sharing something so intense and fantastic, how could that not forever bond us? You will forever have our gratitude, our respect, appreciation, love, and friendship. Thank you so much Christy!
When I first started researching home births with my third child, I was cautious and didn't know what to expect. After reading more information, I contacted Christy and asked her every question possible about home birth. Her extensive knowledge of labor, birth, and water birth was impressive and it cleared any doubts that I had. Once I met with her for an interview, I felt completely comfortable. She was so at ease and once again answered any question I had, especially my concerns about any complications. It was her thorough knowledge on childbirth that helped me make the informed decision to have a home birth. Christy was always accessible and it was clear how much she loved women, babies, and childbirth. She is a very warm, loving person and was great to have during my labor, which went very smoothly with her help. It was the most wonderful experience to have my baby at home, with my husband at my side, and to be able to have my other two children see their baby sister right after her birth. Thank you Christy for helping me make that decision and helping me know that I was stronger than I thought, and for making my home birth possible!
Christy, if the only thing I had to thank you for was breathing life back into my son, I could thank you each second of each day and it would never be enough. But my gratitude stretches far beyond that. The support you provided during my pregnancy, my labor and delivery, and now as a mommy is something that makes, “thank you,” seem like the smallest two words--how can just two words begin to capture the sensation of feelings I have for you? Choosing a midwife is the BEST decision I have made as a mother. I am forever grateful that you were there to assist me in the biggest moment of my life, my son’s entrance into this world, and that you were the gentle hands that caught him. I am also forever grateful that the world my son entered into has beautiful people like you in it. Thank you, Christy!
(Monica’s birth was an example of one of those rare situations in which her baby, Eli, needed immediate resuscitation, but it was handled swiftly and Eli was fine with no need to transport. Midwives maintain currency in Neonatal Resuscitation Certification.)
In my 1st pregnancy, my husband and I took a Bradley class but we did not take the time to research the facts about home birth, so we stayed with an OB/GYN and ended up with a C-section. I was very disappointed and didn’t get to hold my son right after he was born, so I had a difficult time bonding with him and consequently suffered from postpartum depression. After that, I thought I would never have the birth I wanted, but 5 years later, we were pregnant again. My OB said she would let me attempt a vaginal birth, but only if I gave birth by 39 weeks or else a C-section would be needed. I mentioned home birth to my husband and how I wanted to have a drug free, calm, and safe environment and he told me he would support me in any decision. After praying about it, I got my answer and called a midwife (Quincy). Our home visits were awesome and our 1st son got to be a part of it too. At 38 weeks, my water broke, and Christy came all the way from Tehachapi to be a part of my home birth team; Quincy and Christy were awesome together. My girlfriend (and chiropractor) described it like a laboring spa: Christy gave me encouragement and made sure I stayed hydrated and was eating to keep up my energy, not to mention the massaging from everyone. After 24 hours, I was exhausted and in the middle of pushing, my contractions stopped. They had my counter full of herbal remedies to take and told me to go get some rest before my contractions started up again; they never gave up on me and let my body do what it needed to do. Christy had great ideas on getting my contractions going again and that next morning they all worked, even the lunges were worth it. I started progressing again and had my son that afternoon. I got to hold him the moment he was born and the bonding started instantly! It was amazing and the care from Christy and my midwife was unbelievable. Christy is an amazing midwife and my family was very blessed to have her with us for the birth of our son. God has blessed those midwives with so much patience and love for pregnant and laboring women. Whoever chooses to have Christy as her midwife will not regret their decision!
